Advantages Of Gas Heaters To Wood Heaters
As long as we can remember, man has sought some means to heat himself and keep himself warm. Before modern civilization came into being, man used to light small fires wherever he was for a variety of reasons. One was to cook his food, the other was to warm himself and the third was to tell wild animals to keep at bay. When man acquired structures and started living in houses, he still used heaters in the house. In continents where there are winter seasons, the heater became, not just a luxury but a necessity. In the tropics, the weather is warm all year round so heaters are not as commonly used. The most common way of heating the house was using fire wood and lighting up in an enclosed corner of the house which is served by a chimney that runs outside. This method of heating is still very common even in civilized societies which romanticise with outdoor. Wood and charcoal are also relatively cheap and so can be used by anyone regardless of resources. Heater have also become more advanced and now there are gas heaters which use natural gas that comes into the house to light a bunsen burner flame that is hidden from sight. So which is the better heater, the wood heater or the gas heater?
Cost
The wood heater is extremely common even in advanced nations. This is because the cost of wood is cheap and even if one does not cut a tree bushes and wild branches will do. This is by far the cheapest way to heat up a house. That is why even in economically challenged regions of the world, wood fire heaters are still the way to go. Gas heaters are ideal and heat the house very evenly with minimal risk but there is a gas bill to contend with at the end of the month. This makes gas heaters out of reach of economically backwards regions of the world.
Safety
Gas cookers have been termed the safest of the two because the flame that fans the fire is hidden from site. The degree of fire can also be controlled via a button or knob meaning that a home can get just the right amount of heat. Gas heaters use radiant heat technology to spread the heat around the house rather than use convection which is what firewood heaters use. Radiant heat technology uses less energy but spreads the heat in a wider area and with better consistency
Convenience
With firewood heaters, once the wood runs out then one has to get another bundle of firewood. In less polished scenarios, one has to go back into the thicket and either get more wood, cut a tree or its branches, chop them up and then process them to be used as firewood. Then the wood or branches could be wet or still green and therefore refuses to burn effectively. All these are hassles that the gas heater does not have. The gas is pumped through a pipe and never runs out.
