Everyone now a days is trying to be "green", but what is being "green" all about? To me that means trying to cut back on the daily use of energy and trying to be more caring about the environment. In some aspects of your life you might find that being green is easy. For instance you might buy a stainless steel bottle to hold your water instead of using plastic bottled water you would by at the store. Maybe you switched from buying coffee to making it at home using the same mug everyday. Maybe you even took a giant leap forward and bought a energy friendly car like a Prius. Whatever you are doing, it will never be enough, but we would like to tell you that maybe there are things you are not thinking about, like your swimming pool.
Most people look at their swimming pool and don't think about trying to be environmental friendly with it because it's a big body of water in your backyard. But there are many ways you can cut back on your energy bill in your swimming pool.
For one, your pool heater is the most costly part of your swimming pool. You can switch and look at pool heat pumps. These heaters use less energy and no gas to heat your swimming pool. They are more costly upfront but will save you a ton of money in the long run.
Now that's just one way, if you add solar pool covers to the mix then you can really be saving money. Once you get your pool up to the desired temperature then you can shut off your heat pump and continue to use your solar cover to keep that heat in your pool for as long as possible. This way you won't use your heat pump all the time. Brilliant!
