Garages are a part of the house that are not typically heated, but if you are someone that spends a good deal of time in your garage, then you may be much more comfortable if the garage is a temperature that is more like the interior of your home than the outside. Garage heaters are a great way to keep your garage nice and toasty so that you can be comfortable while working within them.
Adding a heating system to your garage can be something that is initially incorporated into the garage plans or it can be something that is done after the garage is already built. Some systems tap into the home’s heating system so that the garage always stays warm when the house is being heated, while others are portable models or standalone models that can be turned on and off only when you need them.
Portable models are small and can be powered by gas, propane or electricity. They are typically made to heat small spaces, but even if your garage is large and you only work in one area (such as at a work bench or while fiddling around with an old car), they can keep the specific area you want heated. Some models sit on the floor while others can be attached to a wall or the ceiling.
More permanent models that are not part of the home’s heating system are often attached high up on the wall or are suspended from the ceiling. In some models, jus the heating element is visible but there is another portion of the heater containing the fuel and combustion chamber that is placed outside the garage.
You can find heating systems that run on all types of fuel and are made to heat all size structures. Which one you choose will depend on what your needs are.
