There are three main types of ductless air conditioners. There are split air conditioners, window A/Cs, and portable stand-up air conditioning units. Split air conditioners consist of two pieces. The indoor unit circulates the air in the house by passing it through a filter which also cools it. The outdoor unit contains the compressor and pumps the refrigerant to the indoor unit through copper tubes that connect the two.

The main advantage of ductless air conditioning is that you can isolate the cooling room by room. This way you get to choose which rooms need cooling the most. If you live alone there is no need to cool the living room when you are sleeping. IF you get ductless air conditioning, you can turn off everything else and only keep the unit in your room running. This method of cooling is called the oasis methods and works like a charm in keeping your electrical bills down. The way it works is that you turn off each air conditioner you are not using in the areas you don't need them. By consistently doing this, you will end up saving a lot of power.
