Using A Radiator Humidifier

Author: Theodore Category: Home Appliances

There are many styles and types of radiator humidifiers available in today’s market.  Since you’re reading this, you are obviously trying to learn more.  What we want to cover here in this article are some of the features of these products and also one of the more common and popular ones being sold.  To begin with, some parts of the country (and world, for that matter) still rely on radiators to heat the home.  In areas with central air and heating, these products are really a mute point.  In fact, many children today don’t even know what a radiator is, much less some way of using one to create more moisture in the air.

What many people are more familiar with are humidifiers.  You can find humidifiers in a variety of brick and mortar and online sites today.  They are great for climates that get very dry and the air can cause issues with congestion and asthma.  It can be a natural way to add moisture to the air.  This is what the radiator humidifier does.  It is a more ‘eco-friendly’ way to go because it doesn’t require any additional energy use.

These types of humidifiers are more of a passive system.  They simply hang over the radiator with some sort of metal hanger or clip device and the heat from the radiator causes the water in the humidifier’s bowl to warm and evaporate.  This moisture is then released into your space.  The result can be amplified by using a ceramic radiator humidifier which has a slimmer, but deeper profile.  The ceramic makeup allows for better heat transfer and a more effective heating of the water allowing for better evaporation.

One of the more popular styles of these products being sold today is the Snow Joe 209 radiator humidifier.  It is probably the most common because it is the cheapest.  For around $10 USD, you can get one of these for your home.  While it works fine enough, it will not provide you with any aesthetically pleasing properties.  This is one of the benefits of the ceramic styles.  Often, there is a decorative image painted on before glazing.  This way, you get not only an effective but good looking radiator humidifier.
